Banned Mourinho cursing another killer call.

HPL result is shown in brackets, with the official real-life score first.

Games with an HPL scoreline change in red.

Bournemouth 0-1 Newcastle (0-1) Referee Lee Mason
Terry Butcher, co-commentating on BBC5 Live suggested if Mason had seen the challenge on King by Collicini it would have been a penalty and one or two papers do refer to it. Alas, there is no discussion of the matter anywhere on Sky or MoTD. So while this remains an open case, it is closed until further notice.

Leicester City 2-1 Watford (2-1) Referee; Roger East
East does well with both nailed-on penalties – and for not sending off the hapless Watford keeper Gomes when he upends the irrepressible Vardy, who then dusts himself down and blasts the back of the net for a NINTH league game on the spin. Watford’s consolation strike from 12 yards is also spot on.

Manchester United 2-0 West Brom (2-0) Referee: Mike Dean
Yes, it is a sending off and penalty when Martial is clattered by McAuley.

Norwich 1-0 Swansea (1-0) Referee: Mark Clattenburg
Gomis is held by Bassong but not enough for him to go down on his knees,. Stay strong and the Frenchman might actually have scored for the fist time in months.

Stoke City 1-0 Chelsea (1-1) Referee: Anthony Taylor
No Jose Mourinho, who is banned from the stadium, to slag off the official for not awarding a penalty when young England keeper Buckland’s diving lunge fails to connect with Remy but only because the Frenchman has the athleticism to take evasive action. ‘That is a penalty,’ scream Alan Shearer, Ruud Gullit, Alan Thompson and Nigel Winterburn. But Ian Wright and Dermot Gallagher disagree, saying you can’t penalise a keeper for not touching a player. Well, no, unless it is down to the opponent getting out of the way. For HPL, we say: “Penalty!” Anthony Taylor plays the advantage but Remy can’t stay on his feet after his honest jump and therefore no advantage is gained. Simple.

Sunderland 0-1 Southampton (1-1) Referee: Mike Jones
Yoshida handballs a goal-bound header with the back of his arm – Allardyce reckons it is a penalty and so does HPL. Ian Wright, however, does not. Crisis. Need more expertise. But to me, Wrighty, who is in no mood to give anything to the strikers – pre north London nerves making him edgy perhaps – is not backing the Black Cats as he thinks a draw would have been a huge injustice given the spectacular dominance of Koeman’s men. Shearer remains weirdly silent. As for M’Villa bringing down Bertrand as Saints gets the crucial opener – clumsy and most 100 per cent a penalty.

West Ham 1-1 Everton (1-1) Referee: Paul Tierney
It is a shocking tackle by McCarthy on Peyate, which deserved red but goes unpunished. Meanwhile, the Hammers’ previously flying Frenchman is grounded for THREE months.

Sunday, November 8

Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham (1-1) Referee: Martin Atkinson
Amazingly little controversy and that might be down to some solid, unfussy refereeing

Aston Villa 0-0 Manchester City (0-0) Referee: Craig Pawson
Sterling takes a dive when Clark’s foot flicks his boot. Great call by the ref not to cave in to the simulating England winger. It is not a trip and not a foul.

Liverpool 1-2 Crystal Palace (1-2) Referee: Neil Swarbrick
